In Nightlight, an artist, an author, and a book designer have combined their talents to tell the tale of two little bears, Aurora Mae and Borealis Burl, who awake in the night to discover that something amazing is happening in the sky above them–the grand and glorious northern lights stage a fantastic show as a sprinkling of friendly fireflies contribute their sparkles to light up the night in a way the two young bears have never seen before.
This book is a simple story about complex natural phenomena. About the Author:
The author, Jeannine Anderson, a special education teacher from Shoreview, Minnesota, has made a hobby of story telling. She has written several books for her four children and family. As a child, she watched the northern lights and, even then, felt the power and wonder in their beauty.
Review:
The illustrator, Nikki Johnson, a lover of nature, paints the northern lights with skill and feeling. She has sold numerous paintings to galleries and collectors. In 2001, Nikki was accepted into the Lake Superior Watercolor Society as a master painter. She lives on the north shore of Lake Superior near Duluth, Minnesota.
The designer, Joy Dey, art director for Pfeifer-Hamilton Publishers for many years, is an award-winning book designer. She designed Old Turtle and The Quiltmaker’s Gift among many others. She lives with her family on a wooded estate north of Duluth, Minnesota.
