This mundane story of a talking worm exemplifies anthropomorphism at its worst. When Lego is washed out of his leaf house by a rainstorm, he begins to search for a new place to live. After speaking with some ants, a snail, and a frog (in various brief chapters), he finally chooses an apple tree as the ideal home. Pencil illustrations show a large-eyed worm that bears very little resemblance to the real thing. The text is overly wordy and contains allusions (money growing on trees) and puns (a snail named Les Cargo) that are beyond a young child's comprehension. Far too many sentences begin with "and" or "but." Questions at the end of the book ask readers to recall some details of the story, purporting to teach the difference between a house and a home.
