If you look at human civilization, you will find that technology has made great progress, but human beings have not progressed at all. In terms of inner development, we are standing at the same place where our forefathers stood in the Stone Age. The only progress that has been made is that in the olden days, people used to fight with sticks and pebbles. Today, we fight with machine guns and nuclear weapons. We have learned how to harness atomic energy, but we have not yet learned how to manage our own senses and minds so that we can give the right direction to the energy that we gather in the external world. No matter how many international societies we form, and no matter how many peace summits we hold, unless we unveil the mysteries of the mind, we will continue using external forces to create misery for ourselves.
About the Author
Swami Rama sounded branches of the Himalayan Institute in the U.S. and abroad, as well as a modern hospital in an impoverished region of India. He is the author of 30 books.
Tigunait is the Spiritual Director of the himalayan Institute, a life-long practitioner of meditation, and a scholar of the ancient scriptures.
