About the Author

Mark Salamasick, CIA, CISA, CRMA, CSP, is the director of the Center for Internal Audit Excellence at the University of Texas at Dallas. The program is one of five centers of internal auditing recognized by The IIA and the largest graduate internal audit program worldwide. He teaches internal auditing, IT audit and risk management, and advanced auditing. He is also a consultant in various areas of risk management. He serves on The IIA Research Foundation s Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors of The IIA Dallas Chapter. Mark is a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors, the National Association of Corporate Directors, and ISACA. Mark served as senior vice president and IT audit director for Bank of America for 18 years. In that role he dealt with many outsourced operations and served as audit liaison to various clients of Bank of America. The last two years at the bank he was senior vice president in the Internet Intranet Services Group. Before working for the bank, he was a senior consultant for Anderson Consulting in the Advanced IT Group. He has taught full-time at Central Michigan University and part-time for Northwood Institute. He has worked with numerous clients in delivering on-site custom training. He received the 1994 IIA International Audit and Technology award for his efforts on the Systems Auditability and Control work related to emerging technology. Mark received The IIA s Leon R. Radde Educator of the Year Award in 2005. Mr. Salamasick received his bachelor s degree and MBA from Central Michigan University with an emphasis in accounting and management.
