About the Author
Dr. Gary Evans is a Professor of Chemistry at Bemidji State University in Minnesota.

Evans' crisply written study of chromium in the diet offers hope to those who suffer from high blood fat, high blood sugar, obesity, food cravings, and osteoporosis. The problem with chromium, a mineral essential to a healthy diet, lies in its absorption into the bloodstream--which is where the picolinate comes in. Picolinate is "an amino acid that . . . neutralizes chromium's electric charge, allowing the mineral to be absorbed by the body." Evans offers abundant evidence of the good effects of chromium picolinate, backed up with an impressive array of footnotes and references, not to mention a dandy glossary (the importance of a good glossary to a popular medical resource cannot be overstated) and a handy index.
