Synopsis

Using five self-guided auto loop tours, Blue Ridge Roadways introduces its readers to a sixteen-county area in the Blue Ridge region of Virginia. Following a format similar to those used in publications from HandMade in America, the tours, or "trails," include "stops" every 15 minutes and larger cultural "hubs" for visits of two to four hours. The sites offer insight into the history and culture of rural Virginia and display some of America's most dramatic scenery. These stops include historic buildings, parks, museums, restaurants serving local fare, natural phenomena, and commercial businesses that function as windows into the past.
