About the Author
Dr. Jonathan Gordon is a zoologist affiliated with the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit in the Zoology Department of the University of Oxford. He also operates a research boat, "Song of the Whale," and coordinates cetacean field research for the International Fund for Animal Welfare. He has worked with whales in the field for 18 years, starting as a student studying whaling in the Azores, later developing (with others) new methods to study cetaceans and sperm whales particularly in the open ocean. He obtained his Ph.D. from Cambridge University.
