About the Author:
Miss Read is actually Mrs. Dora Saint, whose novels draw on her own memories of living and teaching in a small English village. She and her husband, a retired schoolmaster, have one daughter.

June Barrie does a charming and memorable job with the people and plots in this gentle narration. The characters are marvelous--this listener would enjoy knowing both these families.
