Synopsis
The High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (Humvee) continues its multipurpose use in modern combat. The vehicles are employed to move cargo and personnel, armed with TOW missiles and smaller arms, and configured as field ambulances. Armored versions of the vehicle were introduced after the conflict in Somalia. The armor is capable of withstanding 7.62mm armor-piercing rounds as well as 155mm artillery airbursts and 12-pound anti-tank mines.
