The completely updated and revised "1995-96 Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education" is the only official guide to the institutions of higher learning that are accredited by national and regional accrediting agencies recognised by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation (CORPA). Published annually, the guide includes more than 5,000 public, private, two-year, four-year and vocational institutions of higher education throughout the United States, as well as US-chartered schools in 14 countries abroad. This new edition is divided into two sections: degree-granting institutions and non-degree-granting institutions (including certification). Institutions in both sections are listed alphabetically by state. Each entry provides the institution's name and address and a brief description, denotes any membership in a public higher education system, and includes the following information: date of first accreditation or date and status of admission (if a=candidate); type of accreditation and name of accrediting body; type of academic calendar; levels of degrees offered; specialised/professional accreditation(s); name and title of chief executive officer; and latest enrollment figure. Abbreviations and acronyms used in the book are listed and explained in the special sections, "Key to Institutional Accrediting Bodies" and "Key to Specialised Accrediting Bodies". A section on "Major Changes" lists name changes, closures and mergers of institutions. "Candidates for Accreditation" and "Public Systems of Higher Education" are listed alphabetically by state. Additional appendixes provide a description of "The Accrediting Process", a "Joint Statement on Transfer and Award of Academic Credit", and a list of the national, regional and specialised accrediting groups recognised by CORPA. An Institutional Index lists every institution in the book.
