Synopsis

Speed Your Recovery From Breast Cancer

Breast surgery — whether it involves mastectomy, lumpectomy, axillary lymph node dissection, or reconstruction — is a traumatic procedure. What many women don’t realize is that they may also face serious physical difficulties after surgery, including severe pain and loss of motion.Written by an experienced physical therapist, this book explains what to do immediately after breast surgery to recover completely. Using real women’s experiences, it offers:

  • detailed information about your post-surgical needs and physical restrictions
  • a program of more than 15 fully-illustrated exercises that alleviate pain and increase mobility
  • self-care measures including deep breathing, stretches, and skin care precautions
  • an appendix listing recommended reading, ways to pay for physical therapy, and resources for physical and emotional support
