Jan LaRue (1918-2004), a distinguished scholar of music and a former president of the American Musicological Society, was the author of several books and numerous articles on aspects of style analysis, manuscript and watermark studies, and the 18th-century symphony, concerto and string quartet. He was also an outstanding teacher who spent the largest part of his teaching career, nearly forty years, at New York University.
Marian Green LaRue is the founding editor of The Journal of Musicology. She resides in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
