Charles Cowden Clarke (1787-1877) and his wife Mary (1809-98) enjoyed friendships with Keats, Dickens, Charles and Mary Lamb, Leigh Hunt, Coleridge and the Shelleys, among other great writers of the age. After Charles' death, Mary collected their insightful recollections and many important letters in this work, published 1878.
