Plastic-coated paper covers. Condition: V.g. No Jacket. Published to coincide with an exhibition at the University of Lancaster organised by the Peter Scott Gallery, this multi-author appreciation (including a short tribute by W.T. Stearn) is a well balanced account of Farrer's short life and interesting career as an author and plant collector. Described in the blurb as an "exuberant, many-sided individualist" Farrer comes over as a rather sad figure, who was to meet a tragic end in Burma. The one omission is any serious consideration of the garden history of the family home on the slopes of Ingleborough: a deficiency which is yet to be remedied. As Stearn rightly says, "No one will ever again enrich and enliven the literature of horticulture as Reginald Farrer did". Weight: 1 Language: English Centre for North-west regional studies, occasional paper no. 19. Seller Inventory # 347
