Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. First Edition Thus. Card covers, six volumes, approx pp280 per volume. This is the first publication of the full and complete survey, originally carried out by Mayhew in 1849 and 1850. Much of the survey was carried out by interviewing " street-sellers, sweepers and sewer hunters " ; there is a British Library online article by Mary Shannon which summarises it well. The spine titles a re a little bit sunned but perfectly clear and legible, otherwise this is a very clean and sound set. Heavy set, when wrapped appropriately it weighs c2500g thus exceeding the 1000g default for the automatic postage quotation - the extra postage will be requested at time of order or enquiry.if to be sent by UK post or overseas.
