Synopsis
After years of exile in neighbouring Honduras, 8000 refugees returned to the mountains of Morazán in El Salvador. There they founded Segundo Montes City, named after a Jesuit priest killed by the army. In the Mountains of Morazán is the extraordinary story of Segundo Montes, told by the community's men and women, and interspersed with vivid descriptions of daily life in this remote corner of El Salvador. Alongside memories of war and exile, thorny questions are raised about the community's development. Can Segundo Montes survive with foreign aid? How far has been absorbed into national society? Have the 1992 Peace Accords healed the wounds of the violent past?
