Catalogue of an exhibition at the Cecil H. Green library at Stanford, October 16, 1988 to January 6, 1989. Preface by Michael T. Ryan, with a signed presentation letter from him loosely inserted. The exhibit opens with poets such as Aleksandr Blok and Andrey Bely, who began work on the eve of the First Russian Revolution 1905-1907 , and closes with 1930, the year that Mayakovsky died, marking the demise of the literary avant-garde in Russia, and coinciding with the imposition of the Stalinist dictatorship in all spheres of intellectual life.
