Trinidad and Tobago is a multi-racial, multicultural society. While much attention has been paid to the literature of the African, East Indian, and European elements of the society, little space has been accorded the Amerindian-inspired dimension of that literary heritage. The Narratives of Amerindians in Trinidad and Tobago; or, Becoming Trinbagonian brings together poems, dramas, and stories that have been inspired by the Amerindian presence/absence during the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Those experiences, an integral part of Trinidad and Tobago's literary landscape, need to be given the attention they deserve. There is much to be learned here, by both the novice and those with an advanced knowledge of the country.
