About the Author

Professor Hans Toch was the 2005 recipient of the International Society of Criminology's "Prix DeGreff" for distinction in clinical criminology, and is a co-recipient of the American Society of Criminology's 2001 August Vollmer Award for outstanding contributions to criminological practice or policy. Dr. Toch is Distinguished Professor at the School of Criminal Justice, University at Albany of the State University of New York. Among his other books are Violent Men, Mosaic of Despair, Living in Prison, and Therapeutic Communities in Corrections.
