"I recently came across a copy of the log of the first air-driven boat up the Colorado River in Glen Canyon... July 3, 1938...Passengers Josef Muench, Joyce R. Muench and David Muench.  I was twelve. It was a six mile hike to Rainbow Bridge. Twenty-one years after that excursion, Glen Canyon was drowned beneath Lake Powell. My trip, which can never be repeated, became a part of history, while Glen Canyon now exists only in the photographs of my father and other early Arizona photographers, and as memory, one more part of the human-altered landscape."
