About the Author:
Murat Nemet-Nejat, his translator, was born in Istanbul in 1940 and came to the United States in 1959. His translations and his own poems have appeared in THE PENGUIN BOOK OF TURKISH VERSE, CONTEMPORARY TURKISH LITERATURE, THE POETRY PROJECT NEWSLETTER, TRANSFER, HANGING LOOSE, NEW YORK QUARTERLY, and many other publications. His booklength narrative poem, THE BRIDGE, was published in England; another long poem, PORTUGAL, is in progress.
