Singer, who is a professional buyer, and Parmet, who assisted Robert Ringer with Winning Through Intimidation (1974), team up to write a "Shopper's Manifesto" to support their belief that consumers have a right to return merchandise for any reason. Guidelines outline techniques for returning overbuys, for dealing with defective products and warranties, and for complaining about auto repair problems. The authors strive to build consumer confidence and to motivate shoppers to investigate retailers' return policies before a purchase is made. The appendixes list company presidents, Call for Action affiliates, Better Business Bureaus, state and federal agencies, and auto companies for instances when more action is needed. This humorously illustrated manual for overcoming returnaphobia belongs with other consumer titles on the public library shelves.
