Most of the Native Americans left in the United States reside in the Southwest. This series of books was started by the late Tom Bahti and continued by his son, Mark Bahti. Photography by Bruce Hucko. Explore the culture of the Southwest Native Americans the way it was in the old west and the way it is now. These books are often used by some tribes as their authoritative guide.
About the Author
The late Tom Bahti, a graduate in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico, started in the Indian arts business in 1949. He was nationally recognized as an authority on the arts, crafts, and culture of Southwestern Indians. He was also deeply involved in the future of the people of the Southwest.
Mark Bahti, like his father, has authored a number of books and operates an Indian arts shop in Tucson, Arizona. He is active in several Indian-run organizations that seek to provide educational and economic development opportunities for members of the Indian community.
Bruce Hucko, an independent photographer and art coach, specializes in native cultures, landscapes, and children's art. His interests include the Santa Fe Trail, the Old Spanish Trail, Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi) culture, and people who act as natural stewards of the land. Bruce has authored several books on native children's art.
