Sybil Steinberg, the interviews editor of Publishers Weekly, the venerable trade journal of the publishing business, assembled interviews with 50 authors, including such well-known writers as Edna O'Brien, John Grisham, Carl Hiaasen, Paul Theroux, William T. Vollman, Len Deighton, and Maeve Binchy. The interviews, while highly entertaining, are far from standard celebrity profiles. To the credit of all involved, interviewers and subjects focus on the craft and the routine of writing, and on the difficult business of getting published.
