Describes the fascinating wonders of our prenatal origins as we prepare to take on the challenges of independent life. The author answers such questions as:
* How does the fetus start the birth process?
* Why does the fetus make breathing movements?
* What are the functions of the placenta, our only true throw-away organ?
* How does maternal lifestyle affect the fetus?
* How does the fetus tell the time?
