Innovative entrepreneurs, as the authors define the breed, are people who have an idea for using existing technology and materials to fill a developing need and choose to pursue it on their own rather than under corporate regimentation. Jones, a California entrepreneur, and coauthor Elsaesser stress that finding acceptance of an innovation is the first ingredient, then persistence, luck, planning, intuition, hard work and perhaps relatives willing to lend a few bucks. Using case histories of such electronics winners as Gordon Moore of Intel, Ralph Crump of Frigitronics and Harold Haytin of Telecor, the authors review businesses whose entrepreneurialism has brought tremendous growth, wealth and prestige, and urge readers to go and do likewise. A quirk of the book is that despite a dual author credit, the text is written in the first person singular. Photos not seen by PW.
