This publication is the result of a project with two objectives: to develop descriptive models for mature preservation programs, and to examine the scale of local efforts in ARL libraries to determine whether these efforts constitute an adequate level of protection for future scholarship. The report includes a discussion of the ten components of a comprehensive preservation program and describes four levels of program maturity, as well as benchmarks for personnel, production, and budgets.
