Tiny ding to the head of the spine. Tiny spot on the top edge of the text block. Previous owner's name and inscription on the front endpapers. Inside pages are clean and unmarked (except for author's inscription). Dustjacket has light edge and corner wear. There is some light soil to the panels and impression marks on the front panel from being used as a backing under paper. The story of George M. Douglas, a mining engineer, who explored the watershed of the Coppermine River searching for minerals in 1911-1912. Although not particularly successful at finding ore, he did become enamoured with the subtle beauty of the region. He befriended many Inuit in the area and had adventures with Robert Service. During this trip and others at later dates, he captured the lifestyle of the North in photographs, with 116 included in this book.
