Gaetano Cipolla is Professor of Italian at St. John's University (Emeritus) where he taught for 31 years. He has written extensively on Italian literature. He has founded two series of books for Legas, and has translated several works of Giovanni Meli as well as many other Sicilian poets. He is the author of Siciliana: Studies on the Sicilian Ethos and Literature. He is also President and Editor of Arba Sicula.
The reader should not be deterred by the mount of scholarship exhibited by Cipolla to tell his story, it is delightfully surprising to find a scholar who can write such convictions and with such ability to keep his reader interested. The arguments flow logically and even the most complex issues are expressed simply, directly and clearly. Cipolla has important things to say, and goes to great lengths to make sure that his words are easily understood. --Henry Barbera, L'Italo-Americano, June 1988
