Poetry. The fourth book in the New West Classics Series published by Chax Press, TRANSCENDENTAL STUDIES, is an essential new work by Keith Wilson which reconstructs popular notions of what is commonly thought of as "western" literature in America today. "Here are poems as intimate as breathing, recognitions quick as a lizard's moving in the sudden sun. Back of it all is the abiding love for those one's lived a life with. May this circle forever be unbroken"-- Robert Creeley.

About the Author:
Keith Wilson, poet and Professor of English, was born in Clovis, New Mexico, in 1927. He joined the Navy in 1946 and graduated from the Naval Academy in 1950 with an undergraduate degree in engineering. Wilson served three tours in Korea before resigning his commission in 1954. In 1956, Wilson completed a Master of Arts degree in English, at the University of New Mexico. Wilson's academic and teaching career started in 1958 at the University of Arizona, Tucson, where he taught English until 1960. In 1965, he was hired by New Mexico State University as Professor of English and Poet-in-Residence, and he taught there until his retirement in 1988. The author of more than twenty-five books of poetry, he is the recipient of many awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. He lives in Las Cruces, New México with his wife Heloise. Wilson has published twenty-seven books of poetry. He describes his writing as 'emotional geography.'
