From the Back Cover

“The design of God is always other and better than the designs of man.”
                                                                       – George MacDonald

“‘What on earth should I be doing?’ Through the years I’ve heard this question from pastors, leaders, and Christian workers of all kinds,” says David Roper. “It’s a good question. Certainly we’re not looking for more to do. We’re busy people. We have calls to make, books to read, meetings to attend, messages to prepare. Our calendars are filled with appointments, our days are consumed with engagements, our minds are crammed with projects."

“What I offer here are ideas about serving others, in no particular order. This is not a how-to-do-ministry book. Rather, it’s a set of musings about some things I’ve learned after thirty years of ministry. It is my hope that we will learn and find rest in our labor. For, as our Lord assured us, His yoke is meant to be easy and His burden light.”

Are you looking for perspective on priorities? Are you looking for encouragement and support as you go about your work? Then get back to the fundamentals, says David Roper. Get back to the fundamentals of effective ministry to people and of pleasing service to God.

Programs and procedures vary from place to place, but the fundamentals remain constant. They can be transferred from one situation to another. And those fundamentals must come from God.

For those charged with the responsibility of feeding God’s people, for those interested in modeling authentic Christianity in any number of leadership situations, A Burden Shared provides encouragement and truth, giving comfort and guidance to those who need it most.
