On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution, Benjamin, who is the editor of Socialist Action magazine and the former secretary of the United States-Latin America Justice Committee, offers an assessment of Nicaraguan internal political dynamics during the past decade. Drawing from a wide variety of sources in both Spanish and English, as well as from his own lengthy personal experience in the country, he provides a tightly argued and carefully documented case for what he terms "An Incomplete Revolution." Furthermore, Benjamin states, he fears the current "political weaknesses" of the Nicaraguan government "are undermining the revolution," as seen in the main by its acceptance of the Arias peace plan for the region. Much has been written about U.S. policy toward the Nicaraguan revolution, but this is unique in that it assesses the impact of that policy within the Nicaraguan political system. It is a valuable addition to libraries with extensive collections in Central American and Latin American politics.
