Black and white illustrations with some in color [From "Purpose"] The Forgotten Painter : This book has been written for the large group of painters and would-be painters whom authors seem to have neglected. The professional painter and the student who plans on years of concentrated study have many fine, technical books at their disposal. For those who like to draw and sketch there are numerous books and booklets. The dabbler who is not interested in real study but who enjoys playing with shortcuts to painting or filling in outlined pictures is also well provided with material. In between these two extremes is the forgotten painter. For him the professional book has too few of the basic principles; it begins on a level above the knowledge of the amateur.
