Robin Hess enrolled in the world’s first collegiate Peace Studies major at Manchester College, Indiana in 1948. After graduation, he was drafted into Alternative Service for two years and then on to Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California for his Master of Divinity Degree. Now an octogenarian, Robin, has been a minister, politician, bus driver, librarian, real estate salesman, appraiser and broker. Most of this has involved writing in one form or another, but after years of working on books, he is only now seriously publishing them. Oz has been a long-time passion of his. In addition to a large collection of all the Oz books and a lot of memorabilia, he frequently writes scholarly articles for the International Wizard of Oz Club. Robin and his wife, Arlene, delight in their life together on Vashon Island near Seattle, Washington. They enjoy travel, politics, their church family, their own family (all four of their children live in the area) and reading. She enjoys gardening and cooking. He enjoys her cooking and the results of her gardening. They live with a breath-taking view of Mt. Rainier and the Puget Sound.
