Book by Gregory, Scott J.

Note a very early disclaimer by Gregory ( Conquering AIDS Now With Natural Treatment ), following the table of contents: "The author does not directly or indirectly dispense medical advice, diagnose or prescribe. . . . The author and publisher are not stating that the use of any products described in this book will cure AIDS or any other disease." Having covered himself, the author, a holistic health counselor, goes on to make some truly amazing claims: namely, that his slim volume offers general HIV treatment principles which will invigorate the immune system--without the toxic side effects of conventional allopathic treatments like AZT. His suggested treatment course begins with eliminating pathogens, detoxifying metabolic waste, energizing the body and, finally, cellular repair. In his discussion of immuno-suppression, Gregory explains, "It is our conviction that these conditions are largely brought on by what people do to themselves and allow others to do to them." There is no question that everything from lack of sleep to exposure to chemicals can affect the immune system, and no doubt that the basic tenet of holistic healing--the body heals itself, with some help--holds merit. But the question remains, what kind of help does HIV require? Gregory believes that "nature and the body have a wisdom that should be listened to; mankind should not immediately run in with medical interference for every problem." Nevertheless, the body needs a great deal of medical "interference" to battle retroviruses. Gregory demands a very willing suspension of disbelief when stating that "there are individuals who have gone from HIV positive to HIV negative, using the protocols described in this book" and that "98 percent of AIDS/ARC deaths can be prevented."
