Synopsis

Poetry. Art. In ISLE, Rena Rosenwasser continues her explorations of prehistory, the body, and the aesthetics that arise from sensations. Written from notes taken during a tour of the Greek islands, the poems incorporate fragments from journal entries, guide books, archeological texts. That she travels alone suggests a spiritual journey, but it is not an ascetic one. Feelings of pleasure and curiosity are cultivated as links to the ancient world. Kate Delos's six drawings, preproduced in graphite and wash, are talismans for the text. Scratches, marks, white space, washes of color become an imagined place, another record of abstraction.
