The main focus of the book is on streetcar and interurban operations from Detroit to Wyandotte, Monroe and Toledo, the Monroe piers operation, and connecting lines at Toledo including a detailed history of the Toledo & Western. Bus and steam railroad service in the Detroit-Toledo corridor are also covered. The book also includes a special section on the freight operations of the Detroit United Railway, a look at trolley and interurban lines in Windsor (Canada), the Sandwich, Windsor & Amherstburg Railway and the Windsor, Essex and Lake Shore Railway. The book ends with a review of nearly 20 small and little-known industrial railroads in the Detroit area with discussions of the equipment they used. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos. With decorative end papers showing Winona Interurban Railway system map (front) and interurban schedules (back). 230 pages with index.
