About the Author

Cheri Rae has written extensively about Santa Barbara. Her books include Sunrooms, Mojave National Preserve, A Visitor’s Guide and The Santa Barbara Bargain Book. She was style editor of Santa Barbara magazine and is a contributing editor to the Santa Barbara Independent.

John McKinney is the author of a dozen books about walking, hiking, and nature and has described more than 10,000 miles of trail in his nature writing. For 18 years, he wrote a weekly hiking column for the LA Times and now writes for national publications and is on radio and TV.
