This is a translation of one of the books of al-Ghazzali's famous Revival of the Religious Sciences (Ihya Ulum al-Din). It is an excellent work for understanding the Islamic concept of knowledge.

About the Author
al-Ghazzali was born and died in Tus, Iran. He died in 1111 AD and is considered to be the Proof of Islam. He was a theologian who realized that learned knowledge is not enough. One has to experience the Divinity in one's life and so he gave up everything and became a Sufi.
