About the Author

Authors Arden Tice and Nichols Sands met in Albuquerque, New Mexico when they started a Veterans' writing group.

Arden Tice has been publishing essays, articles and chapbooks of poetry since the 1960s when she came to Santa Fe. Robert Graves had written her saying she was a fine poet when she wasn't writing like all the "beats." She continued writing and was an involved social activist throughout the 1960s and 1970s. She has worked with the Eskimos of Barrow, Alaska, the people in the barrios on the border, and the Tarahumara indians of the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico.

Nichols Sands has published his poems since he returned from Vietnam. His contemporary New Mexican jewelry, original and beautiful, had to be abandoned because of his disability. Recently he created striking colorful "jeweled meditation windows" of glass.
