Picking up where Path of Pregnancy, Vol. 1 leaves off, Vol. 2 discusses three dozen of the most commonly seen postpartum complaints, such as incessant lochia, fatigue, depression, scanty lactation, insomnia, low back pain, etc. Under each disease, the author, Bob Flaws, gives the disease causes and mechanisms, pattern discrimination, treatment principles, and a wide selection of Chinese herbal formulas. This book is meant as a clinical manual for any practitioners treating postpartum women with Chinese medicine.

One of the very first books I ever wrote on Chinese medicine was about Chinese medicine and pregnancy. At the time, I cobbled together whatever scanty information was available in English. Much of that information was out-dated and incomplete if not actually erroneous. After I taught myself how to read Chinese and thereby gained access to the full length and breadth of the Chinese medical literature, I realized that I had an obligation to redo this earlier effort. The fruit of that obligation is this vastly improved and expanded version which is easily comparable to a professional Chinese medical OB/GYN text in the People's Republic of China. It took me more than 15 years to reach this state of the art. Having done so, I hope this book can cut more than a decade off other students' and practitioners' development.
Bob Flaws is one of the most famous practitioners, teachers, and authors of Chinese medicine in the world today. He is the author, editor, and/or translator of over 100 books and scores of articles on all aspects of Chinese medicine. Bob Flaws has specialized in Chinese gynecology for more than 20 years. When it comes to Chinese gynecology, Bob Flaws is indisputably the leading Western authority on this specialty, having written more than 90% of all English language materials on it.
