The author is the publisher and editor of the Lakota Times , the largest privately owned Indian newspaper in the United States. This book is a compilation of his weekly newspaper columns dealing with today's Native American. Each chapter contains several columns on various topics such as communications, culture, education and athletics, government, health, humor, litigation, politics, rights, religion, and people. Of particular interest is the set of articles dealing with the controversy surrounding the filming of the TV mini-series based on Hanta Yo. In this instance and others, Giago manages to dispel rumors clouding the issue by presenting both sides clearly and fairly. His columns are very persuasive and well thought out.
