Everything old is new again: Marbling, a skill traced to fifteenth-century Turkey, is today applied to paintings, furniture, walls, clothes, and other once-plain surfaces. This mother-and-daughter team have produced a pattern book intended for the serious crafter, since how-to-start directions are omitted. And even though a glossary precedes the 55 patterns, little information is included for the novice. The motifs are divided into four sections, each involving a different method of placing paint in the bath or combing through the colors or both to create chevron, swirl, stone, and other effects.
