Reviews

Only a few books have been published so far on polymer clay, one of the newest crazes in the craft world (see Nan Roche, The New Clay: Techniques and Approaches to Jewelry Making, LJ 11/1/95). Artists are now using it for sculptures, boxes, decorative household items, and traditional ceramic forms in addition to jewelry. Its bright color contrasts give a cartoon-like quality to many of the finished items. This book of basic techniques for molding, layering, and baking the clay offers 26 very colorful and whimsical projects, including buttons, beads, ornaments, and birdhouses.
