When we think of energy, most of us generally associate it with the fuel used to power equipment or some measurement of the ability to do work. This was not always the case. The Wholeness Principle examines the history of energy and determines that, in reality, it forms the basis of our very existence. It is a concept that has a universal presence in all societies, though the names and forms it takes may vary from culture to culture. Dr. Sabetti subscribes to a more vitalistic meaning of energy in which Life Energy, as he refers to it, may be seen as a universal force that brings all phenomena into movement. He explores the physics or essential nature of this universal force, determining that phenomena are not separate or isolated entities but can only be viewed as relational elements of a much larger and integrated whole. Life energy expresses itself in all that we do. In this view, all elements of our existence, such day and night, male and female are seen as complementary elements of the whole instead of contradictory or oppositional. This wholeness is a natural tendency. In our attempts to be important, we try control, hinder or otherwise disrupt this natural flow, resulting in disease, conflict, disharmony or destruction of our natural resources. Sabetti makes this concept relevant to our daily lives by showing how the energy of wholeness can explain the essence of our physical nature, emotions, medicine, architecture, and psychological health. From a therapeutic standpoint, Sabetti describes the application of these energy principles of wholeness, flow, and blockage to a radical form of body psychotherapy he has developed called Life Energy Therapy®. He also summarizes the essence of these principles into a more general Life Energy Process®, in which he uses energy to diagnose and interpret other forms of life expression such as dance, organizations, art, and music
