CONTENTS: This sequence grew out of the Amazonian myth of the BOTO, the pink river dolphin that is said to transform into a man whenever it see a woman on the banks of the river so as to seduce her. Ms. Richmond’s free verse is alive with the rhythms of mythology as she intricately weaves image after image into the narrative as well as into the voices of the BOTO and the woman.
