Industrial falls are the number one cause of on-site, occupational fatalities in the United States today. Yet personal fall protection is the most underdeveloped safety program resource in the country.

There are two types of elevated fall exposure: during work and during access or exit. Fall hazards are not always obvious. Fall protection must be planned; it cannot be done on the spur of the moment. This edition is for those striving for effective fall protection.

Occupational fall prtoection is the backup system planned for a worker who could lose her or her balance at a height; its purpose is to eliminate or control injury potential.
