Char Miller is professor of history at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. A Senior Fellow at the Pinchot Institute for Conservation, he is the author of the award-winning Gifford Pinchot and the Making of Modern Environmentalism and Deep in the Heart of San Antonio: Land and Life in South Texas, and editor of The Atlas of US and Canadian Environmental History.
Rebecca Staebler is the former editorial director for the Society of American Foresters. The family of publications under her direction included the Journal of Forestry, the premier scholarly publication covering the ongoing evolution of the profession. She recently returned to the Pacific Nortwest where she continues to marvel at the enduring strength and beauty of our nation's forests.
The Society of American Foresters is the national scientific and educational organization representing some 17,000 forestry professionals. Members work in a variety of settings including federal, state, and local government; academia; private industry; associations; and private consulting. The Society offers educational programming, works on forest policy issues, and produces a variety of publications and outread materials.
