About the Author
Father Robert Hale was born in California in 1937. In 1959 he joined the fledgling New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, California, a foundation of the thousand-year old Camaldolese Benedictine tradition. He has served there as Prior (=abbot) in recent years. Though a hermit, his office requires him to travel regularly in the United States and to Italy. He has written several books and papers, but Love on the Mountain is his first book in over a decade. He is well known in both secular and religious circles as a proponent of ecumenism (he started life as an Episcopalian) and dialogue between Christianity and other world religions.
