The Long Beach Pike amusement park was a staple of social life and entertainment for visitors to the US west coast for nearly a century, beginning in the late 1890s. The Pike (Past its Peak) is a photo monograph produced by Stephen Brown, capturing the decline of the park in the last few years before its permanent closure. The book contains very little text and was published in the tradition of photo-book monograph documentaries, well before modern computer publishing technologies.
